Documenting theatre with photography is a tricky business. It is virtually impossible to truly capture the images the audience perceived on the stage. However, we continue to endeavor to document the mood, the atmosphere, the experience of theatre, in an often futile effort to prove it actually happened. Hopefully these photographs will give you a sense of my aesthetic as evidenced by a selection of productions from my past, while also acknowledging the talent, skill, and tireless effort of the hundreds of directors, actors, technicians, and fellow designers who have assisted in making my designs come alive.
